Gamebreaking DirectX Bug
So, I have come to notice that whenever I play the game on High or Ultra quality the game crashes because apparently EA's developers are not able to construct a working game or come up with a decent patch even a month after release. I can't even get through the opening cutscenes with Solas without the game crashing with a DirectX error. If anyone knows a solution for AMD players it would be great, apparently EA is too **bleep** incompetent to do it themselves. GPU: AMD Radeon VII Pro 16GB CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Hex-Core Windows 10

đ€źThe Absurdity of Breaking Objects for Resourcesđ€ź
đđđThis is a point that truly defies RPG logic and immersion. Someone thought it was a good idea to have players break barrels, vases, and parts of the scenery to collect valuable items, as if itâs normal for honorable characters, respected leaders, or noble warriors to destroy everything around them in search of coins and resources. đđđ

A Call to Bioware: Please Unlock Hardened Lucanis' Romance (ACT 1 SPOILERS)
I've been trawling through the various forum and reddit threads on this topic for the past week or so, so I know at least a good few people who want to romance Lucanis feel similarly. And to be clear, this is not a post complaining about Lucasnis' romance generally - the incredible slow-burn seems to culminate in a tamer romance than many were expecting, and that hasclearly rubbed some people the wrong way. I don't have many thoughts on that - I can understand why people would want something more substantial from Lucanis, but that's beyond the scope of what I'm asking for here. What I'm looking for is the bare minimum:Bioware, please unlock Hardened Lucanis' romance. I've seen a lot of good points already posted by others aboutwhy this should be the case, so I thought I'd compile the points I've seen here. I might be screaming into the void with this one, and if Bioware ignores us, then I can rest assured that the modding community might have my back. However, it's nice to imagine a company with time to respond to constructive feedback. Reason 1: It's Inconsistent. Lucanis locking Rook out of a romance after Rook saves Minrathous is inconsistent writing. I would understand if Rook was a Crow who abandoned their city during a time of need. It would make sense if Rook levied the full forces of the Veilguard against only one of the dragons. It would make sense if Rook was known to be better at killing dragons, so where Rook chooses to go makes all the difference. It would make sense if Rook had a magic Dragon-Killing Veil Hand that could only go to one location at a time. As it is, however, Rook is not especially more skilled at dragon-killing than any of the other Veilguard members, and Rook delegates half of the Veilguard to protect the city that Rook themselves does not go to. More to the point, the game claims that Lucanis does not have time for a romance with you while he's picking up the remains of the city. Now, on the face of it, this would be fine. I'm not morally opposed to an RPG character making romance decisions based on player role play, even if it hurts my feelings. That's just the price of art. However, as many before me have pointed out, Lucanisdoes have time for a romance with Neve after the destruction of his city. This stings especially badly for anyone playing a Shadow Dragon Rook, as they are in the exact same boat as Neve, but they are being rejected for making the same call as she did. And that's not even mentioning how the romance on the other side of this particular coin works... Reason 2: It's Inequitable Locking off Lucanis' romance is inequitable, in more ways than one. On the most basic level, it's not equal with any of the other romances in the game. Lucanis' is (I believe) the only romance that can get locked off in such a way. Again - I'm notopposedto roleplay locking off a romance. If Neve could not forgive you for forsaking Minrathous, then at least Lucanis would have parity with another romanceable NPC. It might have been neat to seeevery character havesomething that precludes them from further romance. I'm very aware of how much Dragon Age fans enjoy having NPCs that function as their own fully-fleshed characters that make decisions regardless of what the player character wants. As it is, however, having onlyone NPC romance get easily locked off is surprising and disappointing. However, and more importantly than comparing fictional characters, it's inequitable towards players. If my journeys on other Dragon Age forums are any indication, I might be unpopular in my opinion that Pansexual/"Playersexual" characters are my preferred Bioware companion writing style. It leaves romantic roleplay open for all types of people. It opens up nonbinary roleplay, as we've seen in this game. It makes me focus on seeing the NPC as a person with goals and hang-ups that need to be honored, as opposed to a list of Canon Sexualities that need to be built around first. As a queer person myeslf, I prefer this, and having it come back in Veilguard feels refreshing after Inquisition. Locking off one of the masculine-coded romances (especially the one that seems to, at least initially, be pulling the Zevran and Fenris girlies out of the woodwork) feels unintentionally cruel, especially in a game that otherwise seems to have worked so hard to be more open, inclusive, and representative than any other entry in the series. Now, again, if Lucanis' reaction was on par with the other NPC companions, then the equity question would be less of a concern. If there was an opportunity to mess up every romance, then it would be hitting everyone equally. As it is, this choice removes one masculine-coded romance from the table, leaving those of us craving one with fewer options. Reason 3:Industry standard I hate to be the person stammering "bu-bu-Baldur's Gate" in a Dragon Age thread, but when Baldur's Gate III launched, I knew it would be coming for Bioware's lunch. It succeeded in a major way. Now, I'm happy to see that Veilguard hasn't necessarily stumbled in the face of a huge new title in the CRPG space that offers alot of what old-school Dragon Age used to. However, this challenge presents an opportunity to Bioware. Using upcoming game patches to do more than just bare-minimum bug-fixes would be an amazing response to seeing Larian Studios do the same. They used the patching system to add narrative and character content in a way that I haven'tever seen out of major studios. Seeing the number of people coming out against Lucanis' romance being locked off in this way, it would certainly warm my heart to see Bioware at least conscientiously engage with these criticisms. Just my thoughts. Again - I know this might be preaching to the choir, but...a girl can hope.

The camera offset feels a bit too much.
I'd love it if they added an option to change how offset the camera is from the center. I do actually prefer an offset camera as opposed to center set, but my character feels way too far left. It sometimes distracts me and breaks immersion. I'd like to be able to bring it a bit closer to center.

Voice Actor
Does anyone know who voiced Warden Tomasz? I've been searching but I can't find it, his voice sounds so familiar but I can't place it. I swear it's a voice actor from a previous dragon age. Anyone know here's a picture for reference. Thanks.

[Discussion] Share Your Best Photo Mode Moments!
Hey Rooks! We know Dragon Age is full of stunning landscapes, epic battles, and those quiet, emotional moments that deserve to be captured. From what I have seen in some social groups, there are a lot of these! If youâve been snapping shots inphoto mode, this is the place to show them off! Whether itâs your character in the middle of combat, a peaceful scene in the wilderness, or that perfect angle showing off your latest armor set! letâs see your favorite moments from your journey. I was running through some quests to play catch-up and came across an area in the game where I had to get some photo mode captures. Because of where I was standing, I couldn't get the whole image I wanted from the first image below, but you get the idea. I think I captured it pretty well. Share your screenshots below and tell us a little about the story behind them. Weâd love to celebrate your adventures with you! Also, check out the Dragon Age The Veilguard Phot mode contest! Here are a few from the game that I liked.

how to get chest
I have looked a lot online for how to get a chest with a normal chesty icon that doesn't seem to be one of the 13 near Desmal on Crow's Road rooftops in Treviso Canals (top center), there's an unanswered Reddit post and I'm quite lost. I already defeated Desmal and did a slow poison.

[Spoilers] Official Clarification Required - Lucanis Romance lock-out
Dear community managers, or anyone who is in touch with the devs. There are a lot of discussions and assumptions circulating around Lucanis' romance and his hardening. Namely, people being unable to continue the romance after choosing to aid Minrathous. The uncertainties arise because in Neve's case, people can apparently still romance her if they aided Treviso. For peace of mind, can we please get a clear statement from you - Is this intentional design, or a bug to be fixed? Is Lucanis supposed to be romanceable while hardened, or not? Many thanks

Has Anyone Found All 7 Lighthouse Themes?
I have 6 out of 7 (please see below), but the one I think I'm missing is the Rivaini one, which is the one for my faction (Lords of Fortune) I thought they were available from the faction merchant, but I'm at max rank with the LoF seller and never saw it offered. I'm not sure if it's a bug or if it's in a chest in Rivain theat I haven't found/opened yet. Any info you may have would be most appreciated. Thank you!

My feedback - From Origins to Veilguard: The Fall of a Beloved Franchise
The Veilguard. A game that should have been the triumphant continuation of Dragon Age's legacy, but instead stands as a glaring example of how misguided leadership and personal agendas can derail a beloved franchise. While itâs great that you enjoyed parts of the game, itâs impossible to overlook the fundamental issues that have left so many fans disillusioned and disappointed. Letâs start with the so-called puzzles. Itâs difficult to even call them that without feeling like youâre overstating their complexity. The Veilguard doesnât offer puzzles that engage your intellect or tie into the lore of the world. Instead, it presents tasks that are little more than mundane errandsâmoving objects, flipping switches, or solving basic patterns that feel like they belong in a mobile game, not a premium RPG. The satisfaction of problem-solving, something that Dragon Age used to excel at, is completely absent here. Instead of making players feel clever or immersed, the game reduces these moments to boring, uninspired chores. And then thereâs the loot system. In previous games, collecting resources and finding items felt tied to exploration, strategy, and the narrative. Here, itâs a monotonous grind. The process of breaking random barrels and furniture in search of materials turns your hero into a glorified vandal, smashing their way through the world in a way thatâs entirely disconnected from the story. Itâs not just tedious; it actively breaks immersion. How did we go from looting ancient ruins and earning rewards for completing complex side quests to this shallow, thoughtless approach? The root of these problems lies squarely in the leadership of Corrine Buche. Under her direction, Dragon Age has been stripped of its identity and turned into something unrecognizable. For years, Dragon Age stood out as a series that seamlessly integrated diversity and inclusivity into its world without making it feel forced or preachy. It was one of the first major RPGs to feature same-sex romances and characters from a variety of backgrounds, and it did so organically, letting these elements serve the story and enrich the world. Under Buche, however, inclusivity has been turned into a political statement rather than a narrative tool. Features like neutral pronouns and genital scars feel less like meaningful additions and more like a box-ticking exercise designed to signal progressiveness. These choices donât add to the story or enhance the experience; they stick out as jarring and unnecessary. Dragon Age always embraced diversity, but it did so naturally, through deep characters and thoughtful writing. What we see now is a franchise hijacked by Bucheâs personal vision, which prioritizes her worldview over the seriesâ legacy. This shift has alienated many players. Not because they oppose representationâDragon Age fans have always been open-mindedâbut because it feels performative and shallow. Players arenât looking for a game to lecture them; theyâre looking for immersive storytelling, complex characters, and choices with real consequences. Instead, we got a game so focused on avoiding controversy that it sacrificed depth, challenge, and identity. The backlash isnât surprising. Many players now avoid games the moment theyâre labeled "woke," because theyâve seen this pattern before: shallow storytelling masked by superficial gestures of inclusivity. The result is a game that feels sanitized, safe, and detached from the dark fantasy roots that defined Dragon Age. Thedas was once a brutal, morally complex world where choices carried weight and players wrestled with dilemmas that had no easy answers. Now it feels more like a fairytale, scrubbed clean of its grit and complexity. The tone, aesthetic, and narrative direction have all shifted so drastically that itâs hard to even recognize this as part of the same series. And what about the future of The Veilguard? Hopes for a New Game Plus or DLC are slim at best. Developers have already hinted that no additional content is planned, and given the gameâs lackluster reception, itâs easy to see why. The production costs were undoubtedly astronomical, yet the sales and reception suggest the game didnât come close to breaking even. If The Veilguard had been a financial or critical success, EA and BioWare would be celebrating it publicly. Instead, thereâs an uncomfortable silence, a quiet acknowledgment of a missed mark. Bucheâs leadership has proven to be a mistake, one the franchise cannot afford to repeat. Her lack of experience and insistence on injecting her personal worldview into the game have severely damaged Dragon Age. This isnât a role for someone still finding their footing or trying to use the franchise as a platform for personal ideals. Dragon Age needs a leader who understands its roots, respects its audience, and has the vision and maturity to steer it back to greatness. Buche, unfortunately, is not that person. If BioWare wants to save Dragon Age, it needs to acknowledge the mistakes made with The Veilguard and learn from them. This means bringing in experienced developers who can honor the franchiseâs legacy while finding meaningful ways to evolve it. It means creating games that prioritize storytelling, player choice, and character development over shallow gestures and misguided agendas. Above all, it means respecting the fans who have supported this series for over a decade. At its core, The Veilguard feels like a betrayal of what Dragon Age once stood for. Itâs a stark reminder of how easily a beloved franchise can lose its way when the wrong people are at the helm. If BioWare wants to avoid turning Dragon Age into a cautionary tale, it must act decisively to course-correctâand that starts with finding leadership that understands what made this series great in the first place. For now, The Veilguard stands as a painful lesson in how not to handle a legacy. Letâs hope the next chapter doesnât repeat the same mistakes. ##Final Note: Before anyone misinterprets my message, I want to make it clear that my critique is directed at the creative leadership behind The Veilguard, not the individual personally. My tone has been respectful, focusing solely on the franchise and the product, with the intention of providing honest and constructive feedback. I have no intention of offending anyoneâthis is simply me exercising my right to express my opinion as a dedicated fan of Dragon Age.

Why Veilguard looks like Disney game?
Why EA took the Dark Fantasy touch of the game, and turned into a princess game? Dragon Age was never meant to be a fairytale game, it has all the aspects of the Dark medieval times, why the hell they made look like a Little Pony game? Is it because the new Director of the game?

Veilguard Romances and Companion Interactions Feel Shallow
So far, I have about 100 hours in this game, I have completed the primary and side questlines, and have found that even when your Rook does engage in a locked in romance, you can completely forget about it. This is an opinion, but I do feel like Veilguard has the weakest romance aspect in any of the DA games, and that even some of the romances in Mass Effect: Andromeda seem more thought out than these, which is something I'd never thought I would say. I have heard of people being incredibly disappointed with how little thought is apparently put into the companions interactions with Rook, and not just the romantic ones, but how Rook feels like a Fly on the Wall for a lot of the game. And I hate that I somewhat have to agree. I like that the companions seek each other out and have unique conversations and dialogue, I find that very enjoyable, but what it lacks for me, is any depth or proper emotion given to the romances, or even to companion interactions with individual Rooks. I romanced Davrin, and have seen on forums that a lot of people think he has one of the better romances, and after watching the Lucanis and other romances, I would have to agree. I think this is because he tends to offer and at least somewhat reciprocate your advances through a lot of the interactions Rook and he have together, whereas with some of the others, you completely forget that you started romancing them. I was glad to see how romance could happen organically outside of Rook's choices, the Lucanis/Neve, Taash/Harding and Emmerich/Strife pairings I feel all progressed well. However, they feel as if they were given more time and effort than a single one of Rook's pairings, as they have more depth than Rook's. One of the things that I found most damaging to the romance in this game, is that you can't really interact with your romance outside of the missions that they give, like at all. In other Dragon Age games and Mass Effect games, you could typically walk up to a companion and talk to them, enter into dialogue trees, learn more about their characters and backstories and their thoughts and feelings in regards to you, other companions, or the present circumstances, and that is almost entirely missing from Veilguard. Not only this, but the reactions that the romanced character would have to certain things, such as Rook being in extreme danger, are nearly completely missing. The dialogue, and the way the romanced companion regards you outside of their missions where you can occasionally pick the Heart option, is incredibly lacking. It feels as if there is a massive chunk of the game missing just from that alone, that Rook can barely talk or interact with the companions outside of the missions they give you, and I feel like that is one of the main problems this game has. If feels like they kind of slapped and wrote a lot of the dialogue and romances together 3 months before the game release, and that is detracting from romance as a whole. Rook could romance no one, and there wouldn't really be a remarkable change or shift in hardly any of the dialogue or scenes that are given, which is a travesty for a game series that engages in player choices, both big and small. I remember in Inquisition, that I could literally just spend an hour of my time going through a couple of character's dialogue trees in Haven or Skyhold, and learn so much about them and what their experiences and thoughts were. This is not present at all in Veilguard, and has, in my opinion, done the game a great disservice.

Disappointed romance
Maybe small spoilers here and there. I just want to express the disappointment I feel about the romance in this game. I would like to start by saying that I liked all companion, I liked their stories, their missions. We haven't seen many fantasy RPG games with properly developed relationship building, and deep character stories but Bioware was always outstanding in this genre, I think that's why many of us loved their games (and of course because of the storytelling, but i'm here for the romance this time). That's why I had high expectations for Veilguard, because I'm someone who likes to fall in love with fictional characters and then entertain myself for days, weeks, even months by making up stories between my character and her imaginary partner. I was really bothered that the companions were almost not interested in Rook at all. Rook solved their problems, she was there for them, but nobody was cared about how Rook feels. If a little bit more personal question came up, the topic was soon changed. The optional faction background story mattered very minimally, which could have had a lot of potential. The main element of an RPG game is perhaps that it should be based on our personal responses as much as possible. It also bothered me that I didn't feel at all in the game that Rook would be in a romantic relationship with the chosen companion. After the commitment there were hardly any personal interactions between them. There were no personal small conversations, or cute touches.. (maybe I was too spoiled with Cullen in DAI, or maybe time just beautifies memories, I don't really know anymore..) The companions developed a deeper connection with each other than Rook had with her love interest. Seriously, I hated to travel with Emmrich-Bellara or Emmrich-Harding together because I always started to feel jealous when they talked with each other about cute little nothings sometimes :D The only one who asked questions was actually Solas.. It would have been nice to see at least one emotional hug, or at least to hear soothing words for example after Rook is escaped from the Fade prison.. because she's only get like 1 sentence.. at least from Emmrich. Or to talk about the huge responsibility that weighs on Rook's shoulders. I know, that's why Varric was there, but it would have been nice to hear some kind words time to time from the loved one too. (Well, if the voice actors are expensive, then use at least the Lighthouse missives) And the most disappointment we can't even interact them in the Lighthouse. It's sad because all companions seems so interesting, and i wanted to spend more personal time (not questing time) with them, like just talking or anything. And i really miss the drama between characters too. This is a very sensitive and embarassing topic, I know, because you can easily say to me "go and have a life and don't expect everything from a game." - I have a life, but that's what games are all about, right? To escape reality. To be a hero, to take part in great adventures, meet others and to form relationships with exciting people who don't exist in reality. If this title were a game from another studio, I would accept it, and even be happy about something like this. But I didn't expected that from Bioware, especially not after the interviews where they said how much the relationships would matter and how deeply developed they are. Unfortunately, I didn't experienced that. (okay, at the very end it really matters but not the way i expected...) They could have at least written a post-credits scene where the couple is together and they tell what happened to the team, the world and them after the events. But the whole end seemed so unfinished and rushed. I was just sit quietly and watched the monitor. It ended like a series with a cliffhanger. I love Veilguard, i'm on my second playthrough over 120 hours but I often feel like there are so many missed opportunities and we've been just given a really good basis to write our own fanfiction to fill the holes. So I'm very disappointed and i wish they will add some more romance dialoge options in the future.

Merchant for missable items
It would be incredibly helpful if a merchant was added that actually sells missable items, such as Shadow Dragon/Antivan Crow faction shop items as well as loot from areas you can't return to. I'm personally sitting at 100 hours on my first playthrough, nearing the ending. I went in blind, and am still avoiding spoilers, but I have tried looking up multiple times if there's a vendor that sells those types of things, and all I get are people saying either the crossroads wisps, or the black emporium, neither of which have the majority of the missable items. I had hoped maybe once I reached maximum faction strength the wisp shop would update and expand, but that's not the case. I also saw one person say there's a vendor that appears at the very end that has everything missable, but I doubt that's true, if it is I'll delete this. I'm just not looking forward to having to grind early game in future playthroughs just to level up and buy out one of the two faction shops as well as the other vendors that also disappear, or having to stop and look at guides to make sure I don't miss a chest while going through areas I can't return to so I don't accidentally get locked out of legendary gear because I missed a ladder or breakable wall while on a quest that has a sense of urgency (too late to even do that this playthough). The problems I have with the story and lore aspects already make me wary of replaying the game, so quality of life patches would significantly help in my opinion. On that note, I also very much agree/support with other's suggestions for a golden nug, non-faction merchant icons on the map, more companion/romance interactions, and additional character slots.

[Spoilers] First Neve Companion Quest
I'm hoping to romance Neve, but chose to save Treviso. I didn't see that decision coming and did not have a chance to do her first companion quest in Dock Town before this, and the quest disappeared. Have I locked myself out of her future companion quests by not doing this one first, or will I get given her quests again once some time has passed and she warms back up to me?

Disappointment!
As a long-time fan of the Dragon Age series, Iâve always looked forward to each new installment with great excitement. The franchise has been a staple in my gaming experience, from Dragon Age: Origins to Inquisition, and Iâve loved the deep storytelling, rich world-building, and meaningful choices that shaped each game. Sadly, after playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard, I find myself deeply disappointed. I really wanted to love this game, and I do love certain aspects of this game. However, I feel like there is something missing in this game. One of the things Iâve always appreciated about the series is the feeling that my choices mattered. Whether it was the fate of characters or the direction of the story, the decisions I made always felt significant. However, in The Veilguard, this sense of agency seems diminished. The game feels more linear, with fewer opportunities for the player to truly impact the world or shape the narrative in meaningful ways. Another major concern for me is the handling of beloved characters. Over the years, Iâve grown attached to certain figures within the Dragon Age universe. However, The Veilguard seems to sideline them, or worse, erase their importance. The lack of acknowledgment of key characters from previous games, particularly those who have played major roles in the past, was not only surprising but felt like a missed opportunity to honor their legacy within the story. Lastly, the overall tone of the game felt heavy and at times bleak. While Dragon Age has never shied away from difficult themes, the overwhelming sense of sorrow and loss in this installment left little room for the kind of emotional highs and character growth that previous games delivered. This shift in tone didnât resonate with me the way I had hoped. I understand that the development of such a beloved series is a complex and challenging task, and I appreciate the hard work that BioWare has put into the game. However, as a fan who has invested so much time and emotion into this world, I felt that The Veilguard did not live up to the high standards set by its predecessors. I sincerely hope that future updates or installments can return to the heart of what made Dragon Age so special in the first placeâmeaningful choices, strong character development, and a narrative that truly feels shaped by the playerâs actions.

Jingling sound when walking/running
When walking/running while wearing armour, so anywhere outside of the lighthouse area there is a persistent and extremely annoying jingling sound. It does not matter what kind of armour the character is wearing, or which weapons are equipped. Nothing you do can remove it, and it is driving me crazy! Please, please remove this sound from the game, or at least add an option in the settings to turn it off. There is no reason for it to be there, since it's not dependent on what is equipped at all. It sounds like there is a loose coin inside something metal that is not supposed to be there. And the sound itself is just a constant repeat of the same thing every two seconds. Please, please get rid of it.

Locked out locations
I'm right before the point of no return in the main story, trying to solve every other issue and complete the exploration of every location and chest. I have a simple question: why in the whole Thedas should the maps lock you away from locations where treasure chests are? I have learned that the chest I'm missing in Treviso is the Dellamorte Opera House, which I can't access in anyway. I miss two chests in Arlathan, and they are Why would developers give you a count of how many chests are supposed to be found in an area only to lock you out of it through quests?
